Choosing A Wedding Band - All You Need To Know
Planning a wedding is an enormous task. There are so many things to think about and so much work to complete before the big day. One of the most important things is planning your wedding reception. There are so many details to think about when putting together that part of your day and one of the key elements is the music you will choose.
There is of course the option of the DJ but the live music of a wedding band can really get the party started. So, now that you know that the band is so important, you want to make sure that you are looking at the right things when you hire them.
The best thing and actually the first thing you will want to do is try to watch the band perform live. Most of the time a wedding band will have public appearances along with private events and will happily tell you where you can preview their talent. You can also ask for a recording of their work such as a demo CD or video of a live performance. This should tell you whether the wedding band would be what you are looking for at your reception.
Many wedding bands will have their own website for you to peruse. The site should have pictures, tracks and even videos for you to watch. These are important pieces of research, they will tell you a lot about the bands professionalism.
Another thing commonly found on websites is testimonials. Read through and find out what other customers thought about their experience with the band. These websites should also list the bands repertoire, another important bit of information to have.
It is highly important to also make sure that you are hiring a wedding band that is going to appeal to the majority of the people at your party. You want to make sure that you are taking into account the average age of your guests when determining what type of music they would enjoy the most.
Certainly, the cost of hiring your wedding band is a large part of the decision-making. Speak with the band’s manager and go over the pricing in your contract. Often you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit in order to secure the band for your event.
And then about a week before the wedding, you will want to make sure that you are giving the band a call, just to make sure that everything is still on track and in order. This might also be the time to make sure that they are allowing enough travel time so that they can set up without a problem.
Be aware that the band may have traveled a long way to perform at your event, and so it is a kind gesture to give them a meal. As well, be certain to give your wedding band a timeline of your evening so that they can work their music in well with your event.
