Wedding? Function? Get The Right Wedding Band
Planning a wedding is not an easy task. There are many
different details to think about and there is a lot of work to be done. One of
the most important parts of planning a wedding is the reception, because it is
the reception where you are responsible for entertaining all of your guests.
The biggest part of the reception is the music so make sure that you are
selecting the best wedding band possible.
There are two ways you can go, the DJ or the wedding band. Most people prefer
the wedding band because they can give the whole reception a little more
spark. There are certain things that you will want to look for when hiring
your wedding band though.
A good thing to do when looking to hire a wedding band is to catch one of
their performances. Many wedding bands also play public gigs as well so you
should be able to find them playing somewhere locally. This will allow you to
really check them out to make sure that they are the right performers for you.
If they have a CD or DVD with some of their music, you might want to take that
as well.
If the wedding band has a website, it will be a good way to begin your
research. Much of the time, you can see photographs, videos and listen to some
of the bands songs. All this will give you an idea about how professional that
band is.
If there are testimonials on the website you will want to look at those as
well. This will allow you to see exactly what previous clients have had to say
about them and their music performances. If there is a repertoire, you will
want to look at that as well.
Try to choose a band whose music will appeal for many individuals. If you go
with something like progressive jazz or heavy rock, it may be rather
specialized for your guests, whereas something like 70's soul or disco music
will appeal to people of any age.
Certainly, the cost of hiring your wedding band is a large part of the
decision-making. Speak with the band s manager and go over the pricing in your
contract. Often you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit in order
to secure the band for your event.
It is a good idea to call the wedding band within a week or so of your wedding
to confirm all the details. Make sure they have the correct wardrobe for the
event and that they are clear on the earliest time they can come and set up.
Since the wedding band most likely traveled a good distance to come play at
your reception, you will want to make sure that you are providing them with a
meal. Also, make sure that you do both yourself and the band a favor by
including them in on the timeframe of the various announcements and events so
that they can work around those.
